PSYCHOLOGY It's what we teach. It's all we teach, and we teach it better than most.

"I've worked in many places. Ryokan College does not seem like a place I work at. Instead, it feels like home away from home. The faculty and administration really do care about the students. I always find it interesting that many of the students who complete one of our programs never want to leave."
A. Scott Greer, Ph.D.

"Ryokan has given meaning and life to the term interactive. Students are immersed in an ongoing dialogue with peers and faculty while the learning experience itself melds academics with clinical practice. The synergism that develops is a reward to all involved."
STATE-OF-THE-ART ONLINE PROGRAMS
he College's
online program has been designed to enhance student/professor
involvement and to increase communication between student's
within the intimate class size of no more than 15 students. Online programs are not alike. Discover the difference here at Ryokan College. In our program, students will be introduced to
Blackboard.com, one of the worlds leading online learning
platforms, where they will learn to utilize "links"
that will make learning a thought-provoking, illuminating and dynamic experience.
Our new
Virtual Campus will meet the needs of students geographically
distant from the College. Individuals whose M.A. and Psy.D.
aspirations are precluded by distance or isolation from a
college or university; and others whose employment restricts
their ability to attend an oncampus institution. Our online program not only serves isolated students but is an excellent opportunity for physically challenged students who cannot participate in on campus activities due to disabilities.
The online
program will mirror our existing classroom master and doctoral programs
offering the same classes and taught by many of the same instructors
who facilitate our oncampus courses as well as prominent Psychologists located throughout the United States and abroad. The only difference
will be in the delivery system itself, our state-of-the-art mode
of instruction where you will learn in a highly collaborative environment.
Imagine that it is 7:00 p.m. tonight, you log onto the Internet, go to the Ryokan Virtual Campus, put in your personal login name and password, and then find yourself in a 'live' classroom with all your classmates and your Professor! The first thing you see is your instructor looking at you from your computer screen. He/She is talking and you not only see all facial expressions, but hear their voice. Their tone, their expression. It is as real as it gets. Then, with the activation of your own webcam, when you want to ask a question or make a statement, the image on the screen changes. Now your professor and all your classmates can see and hear you. But wait, what if (and you know this happens) your computer crashes, or your stuck in traffic? No worries. You take your cell phone out, dial a number, put in a PIN number and you'll find yourself LIVE in your class. You will hear the entire class, AND be able to particpate. When you get home, you'll have time to grab a quick bite to eat on your way to your home computer to log in to class! Our classes are more interactive than you would experience even in an oncampus classroom. Each class is recorded, so in the event that you miss a class you would have a complete recording of that entire missed class. You can even make copies to use for when you take your licensing exams. Students communicate throughout the week with each other via Forums, Discussion Boards, and general e-mail. You will feel more connected in our online program than you ever felt in any on campus program that you have been in before. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience where our students quickly discover that learning can be a wonderful experience.
"This all sounds wonderful, but I'm really not that computer savy, what if I have a tech problem? Will I be left alone trying to figure this whole computer thing out?" That is actually a common thought running through the minds of many prospective online students. Here at Ryokan we do everything we possibly can to reduce as much 'tech phobia' as we can. Our IT Department is open 24/7 to help you with any and all technical issues, questions, or problems that you might have. You can either speak to a 'real' person late at night, or leave a voice mail and get a return call the next morning EVEN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY! You will participate in a one-month online 'live' Orientation before you even begin our program. We take that time to fully orient you with our online program, help answer as many questions as we can and allow you to begin to meet and get to know your future online classmates. We hold weekly 'firside chats', open to all online students, faculty and administrators where anyone can just show up and visit, ask questions, or just hang out. It only takes a few weeks with this learning process to begin asking yourself, "Why did I wait so long to start this Program?". Have it all. At Ryokan College you can. Family. Career. Education. Our online programs are 100% online. No residency required.
