THE DISSERTATION
The Doctoral Dissertation process is a straightforward Clinical Case Study Dissertation. It is not theoretical and is not a contentious process where a student defends a theory in front of a panel. The Clinical Case Study Dissertation reflects a process that practicing clinicians will use throughout their careers: presentation of a diagnosis supported by an extensive literary review and a treatment plan. The student must first present a proposal approved by the student’s chosen advisor and the Department Chair. The dissertation presents experience with a real client listing a minimum of 25 sources from approved scientific journals with a minimum of 55 pages of text excluding reference and tables (most dissertations take a minimum of one year of study and average 125 pages in length). Students may choose from an approved list of advisors who assist in topics, research and qualitative approvals.
